What’s This “Linux” Thing and Why Should I Try It? | MakeUseOf.com

Lately, Linux has been receiving quite a bit of notice. Between the ASUS EeePC, the One Laptop Per Child project, Dell’s new Ubuntu line, Intel’s Classmate PC, and Everex’s Green PC, Linux has been getting a lot of attention from computer manufacturers. Back to Mepis

After trying a bunch of different Linux distros on my laptop, I’ve gone back to using Mepis, the pre-release version of 7.0 to be exact.
I used Mepis when it first came to being on my pc, and liked it alot, but ended up switching to Ubuntu when it first came around, then Linux Mint after that.

I’m still running Mint on my desktop, but Mepis works so much better for me on the laptop because it’s the only distro that I’ve found that can use the integrated wireless out of the box. I can get it to work in other distros, but it’s a pain to get it to.

Mepis looks good, works with all my hardware and runs really really fast. I’m the happiest I’ve been with Linux in a long time.
